As you may have read over the past couple weeks, Volante Farms is growing yet again…we are thrilled to announce that the Town of Needham has awarded us with a Wine and Malt Beverage license! First and foremost we want to thank all of our loyal customers who support us every day. Your dedicated patronage allows us to do what we do season after season and gives us the confidence to take on new and exciting challenges. Now, about that delicious new challenge…
We plan on offering a strong selection of reasonably priced wines, with an aim to pair with the delicious prepared dishes from our farm kitchen and the fresh homegrown tastes from our farmstand. Our wine selection will be curated with value and taste in mind rather than specific brands, with an eye toward sustainably and/or locally produced wines as well. As in our other departments we will back up these selections with superior knowledge and service by our dedicated staff. We plan in the long-term to enclose the front porch area of the farmstand between the two existing entrances to accommodate this additional product so that we don’t have to sacrifice any space from our produce displays. Until permitting and licensing are completed however, we will set up a few small temporary displays in the farmstand.
We are in the process of working with the town to determine our ability to carry beer in addition to wine. We hope to be able to offer a large selection of strictly ‘craft’ beers as opposed to ‘domestics’ with a focus on the various “farmer-brewers” licensed in state of Massachusetts. As always we welcome any suggestions for products you see fitting in well at the farm so if you have a favorite wine, winery, region, or bottle, please feel free to let us know. The proposed wine shop area will be enclosed under the porch roof in this picture. The ice cream window and left garage door to the farmstand will till be accessible from the outside. It is a small footprint, but will be stocked with a very good selection.
